NSCL STATE OF THE ART AND NOVEL THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES
22 Settembre 2023
RATIONALE
The treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is a challenging setting that have to be approached in a multidisciplinary team for an
adeguate staging, personalized treatment and toxicity management of the patient. Anatomical resection and systematic lymph node dissection is
the recommended treatment for early-stage NSCLC (non-small cell lung cancer). Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) is an alternative for
non-operable patients. Locally advanced NSCLC (non-small cell lung cancer) could be treated with a combination of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and
immunotherapy, and in selected cases followed by surgical resection. Treatment for patients with metastasized NSCLC (non-small cell lung cancer)
depends on molecular tumor characteristics, PD-L1 expression and could consist of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy
or a combination of these modalities. Because of the success of immunotherapy and targeted therapy for stage IV NSCLC (non-small cell lung
cancer), numerous trials have started to investigate the efficacy of these modalities in early-stage NSCLC (non-small cell lung cancer) as
well, further optimizing treatment strategies for this patient group. In this meeting we will discuss the diagnostic workup and current treatment
strategies for NSCLC (non-small cell lung cancer) for each stage.
